Emma Charles UK
Womenswear designer and ex CCAD foundation diploma student, Emma Charles is turning heads and make waves in the fashion industry. Having just showcased her most recent A/W18 collection at a London Fashion Week Presentation, being featured in Vogue three times and named as one to watch this year at Fashion Week by WWD, she is set to soon become a renowned British label.
Described as an “elegant aesthetic, inspired by vintage menswear tailoring,” Emma’s designs reclaim a soft femininity elevated with clean cut lines and a youthful vitality is expressed through her use of lego bright colours, fabrics and design techniques.
Emma states, “I design for a strong, outgoing woman who has perfected the high/low, masculine/feminine balance. This comes from my love of vintage menswear, beautiful luxurious fabrics, high quality finishes and a playful yet sophisticated elegant attitude. I find all this together creates something sexy but very understated.”
Following her studies at CCAD, Emma relocated to London to study for her degree in 2010. Her background in the industry is extremely strong and Emma holds a wealth of experience in different design roles at prestigious labels such as Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, Tom Ford and Stella McCartney, via the New York Press Office. This further informed her appreciation for luxury craftsmanship and global positioning.
Evidently still keeping her roots strong in the North East, Emma and her team shot beautiful S/S 18 campaign images and short film in the blustery South Gare of Redcar. Do you recognise the scenes? See below!
