COURSE OVERVIEW

This course offers you the opportunity to develop your skills and interests into a lucrative career in industries such as interior design, architecture, product & furniture design or transport design, exhibition design, theatre and TV production design. You will learn how to create, develop and enhance your designs using traditional techniques and digital design tools like Photoshop and 3D StudioMax. The course is ideal for those students who have a practical mind and really enjoy making and building things and seeing their ideas develop into working models and prototypes.

FURTHER DETAILS

Working in dedicated specialist studios and workshops equipped with an extensive range of industry standard equipment, you will explore a fascinating range of materials and making processes, including laser cutting and 3D printing as well as more traditional techniques. Typically, the course offers many opportunities for excellent industrial links and ‘live projects’ set by architects and designers who will help develop ideas professionally. You will also benefit from a range of educational visits to gather first-hand research and experience design in its many forms. There may also be trips to Northern Design Festival, Harry Potter World and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park amongst others. Working with new technologies and 3D software will challenge those interested in elements of STEM subjects used in design. The official title of this course is UAL Extended Diploma in Art and Design, this is what will be printed on the certificate at the end of the course. It has the equivalent UCAS points to that of studying 3 A-Levels. The awarding body for this course is UAL: University of the Arts London Awarding Body.
